Feelings

Energy is the ability to do work. Emotion is energy in motion. When we experience a feeling or trauma, it becomes stored in the body. Without expressing the feeling through movement and sound, it is redirected in the body causing physical pain, tension, or tightness. We know that children cannot learn in fight or flight. Yoga and mindfulness are effective tools to help children move from the amygdala and access executive functioning skills. Now more than ever it is important to support children’s emotional health and development.

  • Happy

    Sometimes when we feel happy, we like to do these movements: downward dog, frog pose, eagle pose, airplane pose, and eagle airplane!

  • Worried

    Sometimes we feel worried, and that’s okay, but sometimes it doesn't feel good and we can use our bodies to make us feel better.

  • Silly

    Sometimes when we feel silly, it feels like music is playing really loud. We do not always need to turn the music off, maybe just lower it a little bit.

  • Sad

    Sometimes we feel sad, and that’s okay, but sometimes it doesn't feel good and we can use our bodies to make us feel better.

  • Excited

    Sometimes when we feel excited, we have so much energy that we do not know what to do with it. Like a firework that may burst at any moment.
